Wood Fence Installation

If you are looking for a wood fence in the Fort Lauderdale area, let Fort Lauderdale Fence Pros be your go-to contact.

Wood fencing is still one of the most common types of fencing in the market. Not only is it affordable, but it also offers privacy and has a natural look and beauty to it that can accommodate many types of landscapes. Wood fences are also popular because of their durability. As long as a wood fence is well maintained, it will last for years to come. There are three different types of wood fencing options available: Board on Board, Stockade, and Shadow Box.

Board on Board fencing offers complete privacy with boards overlapping each other on the same side. If privacy is your main objective, board on board fencing is your best options since this style of fence will maintain privacy throughout its life. Even if shrinkage occurs, which is common in wood fencing, the shrinkage will have no effect on a board on board fence since the overlap compensates for this. Another benefit of the board on board style is that it looks the same on either side of the fence, maintaining its aesthetic from all sides. This makes it a good option for neighbors because there is essentially no front or back to the fence.

Stockade fencing also offers privacy with boards that are butted up against each other. This close spacing does not allow neighbors to see through the fence. However as mentioned above, when boards begin to shrink over time, you end up with small gaps between each board, prohibiting complete privacy.

Another style of wood fencing called Shadow Box is where boards are staggered on both sides of the fence. Shadow box fences offer some privacy, but there are small spaces between the pickets. These spaces line up with the pickets on the opposite side of the fence to help block the view but at an angle, your view is not completely blocked. Because of this, this style of fence is not particularly wind resistant which is something to consider in Southern Florida where strong storms or hurricanes could be impactful.

Although wood fencing is not as durable as some other fence material options, with some routine care and maintenance, you can ensure a long life for your new wood fence.
